What it is
In plain words.
A lot of enquiries arrive when nobody can answer: evenings, weekends, mid-job. A visitor with a simple question (are you open Saturday? do you serve Mayer? roughly what does this cost?) often leaves rather than wait. This assistant answers from what you've told it and, when someone's ready, takes their details for you.
Honest limits: it's an AI model, and it answers only from the information you provide. When it doesn't know, it says so and takes a message instead of guessing. You can read every conversation, and we review the first ones with you and correct anything it gets wrong.
A good fit if
- Businesses that get the same questions over and over.
- Trades and services that lose leads after hours.
- Owners paying for an answering or chat service today.
Probably not for you if
- Your questions are so varied and personal that a person has to answer every one.
- You'd be uncomfortable with an AI talking to customers on your behalf.
We'd rather tell you so than sell you something that doesn't fit.
What you get
Exactly what's included.
An assistant trained on your business
Your services, hours, service area, pricing guidance and the answers to your common questions.
Lead capture
When someone wants a quote or a call, it takes their name, contact details and what they need, and sends it to you.
Staying in its lane
It sticks to your business, doesn't make promises you haven't approved and says when it's unsure.
A 'talk to a person' option
A visible call button and a way to leave a message.
A conversation log
Read what customers asked and how it answered.
A tuning period
We review the first conversations with you and correct its answers.
How it goes
You tell us what customers ask
Your services, prices, hours, area and the usual questions.
We train and test it
You try to trip it up, and we fix what it gets wrong.
It goes live, and we tune it
We review early conversations with you and adjust.
Why it's worth it
What it does for you.
Answers at any hour
No visitor leaves because nobody was there.
Fewer repeat questions
The assistant handles the basics, so you handle the real conversations.
Leads you'd have missed
After-hours visitors leave their details instead of closing the tab.
You stay in control
It uses only what you gave it, and you can read everything it says.
- The most valuable thing it does isn't answering. It's catching the visitor who would otherwise have left.
Run your own numbers
Example figures. Change them to yours.
Count the questions and any service you'd replace. Done-for-you chat services elsewhere often run $150–450 a month. These are example numbers: change them to your own.
Use what you'd pay someone for that hour, or what the hour could earn you.
- Time you get back1.8 hours a month at the rate you entered
- $54
- Chat or answering service you could dropif you have one today
- $0
- This add-on's monthly fee
- −$75
Net each month
−$21
With these numbers it doesn't pay for itself on savings alone. Try your own figures, or weigh the other reasons on this page.
What this assumes
- The time estimate is yours, not ours: change the numbers until they match your week.
- It doesn't count the leads you might capture after hours, because that depends on your traffic. Use the break-even idea in the [local SEO foundation](/add-ons/local-seo-bundle) to weigh them.
The practical bits
What it takes.
What we need from you
- Your services, hours, service area and pricing guidance (what you're happy for it to say).
- The questions customers ask most, and your answers.
- Anything it must never say or promise.
- Where you want leads sent.
How long it takes
Usually two to three weeks, including the tuning review.
Timelines are typical. The dates for your project go in your proposal.
What the monthly fee covers
The monthly fee covers hosting the assistant, the running costs of the AI service at normal small-business volumes, and keeping it updated. Tell us if you expect heavy traffic.
Questions
Likely questions, answered.
Will it say something wrong?
It's limited to what you've told it, and it's told to say 'I'm not sure' and take a message when it doesn't know. We still review the first conversations with you, and you can read every one.
Will it quote prices?
Only the guidance you approve, such as 'jobs like this usually start around'. It never invents a price.
Can it book appointments?
It collects the details and passes them to you. For booking, see online scheduling.
Does it replace me?
No. It takes the repeated questions so you can spend your time on the conversations that matter.
Can I update what it knows?
Yes. When your hours, prices or services change, we update it, or you can tell us what to change.
What does AI site assistant & lead capture cost?
$695 setup + $75/mo. The price is fixed and written into your proposal before any work starts, so there are no hourly surprises. If you ask for something that isn't in the proposal, we quote that change first and nothing changes until you agree.
Do I own it?
You own what we build for you: the code, the content, and the accounts it runs on (the domain, the hosting account and any service account, such as a payment account, are opened in your name). There is no proprietary platform to be locked into and no cancellation penalty.
Can you add it to the website I already have?
Add-ons are built into a ZONA site. If you already have a site, tell us what it's built with when you get in touch. We'll tell you honestly whether this can be added to it or would work better built into a new one. We'd rather say so than sell you something that doesn't fit.
How do I get started?
Use the button on this page to add it to your project, or send a message. A discovery call takes about fifteen minutes (no pitch deck), and then you get a fixed-price proposal. You'll hear back within one business day.
Is there a long-term contract?
No long-term contracts is our standing rule: care plans are month to month, and any monthly terms for an add-on go in writing in your proposal before you sign anything.
