How it works
We audit your site against WCAG 2.2 AA, fix what we find, re-test and give you a written accessibility statement.
Read the video as text
- Buttons nobody told the screen reader about, forms with no labels, text that fades into its background.
- We audit your site against WCAG 2.2 at level AA and write up what we find.
- Then we fix it, re-test, and give you a written accessibility statement.
- No audit makes a site immune, and we aren't lawyers. We find the barriers, fix them and leave you with the proof.
What it is
In plain words.
People who use screen readers, keyboards, voice control or magnification, or who see low contrast poorly, run into barriers on a lot of business websites: buttons nobody told the screen reader about, forms with no labels, text that fades into its background. Each one turns a potential customer away.
This add-on audits your site against WCAG 2.2 at level AA, fixes what it finds and gives you a written accessibility statement. Accessibility complaints about websites are a recognized business risk, and a record that you took the issue seriously matters. But no audit makes a site immune, and we aren't lawyers. We find the barriers, fix them and leave you with the proof.
A good fit if
- Any business whose site customers use, especially in regulated or public-facing fields such as healthcare, law, lodging and retail.
- Businesses that have received an accessibility complaint or demand letter, or want to avoid one.
- Owners who simply want their site to work for everyone.
Probably not for you if
- You're looking for legal immunity. No website audit provides that. Ask an attorney about your own exposure.
- You want a quick overlay widget to 'fix' everything. Overlays don't repair the underlying problems, and many users find them in the way.
We'd rather tell you so than sell you something that doesn't fit.
What you get
Exactly what's included.
An audit against WCAG 2.2 AA
Automated checks plus hands-on testing: keyboard, screen reader, zoom and contrast, forms, images and headings.
A written report of findings
What's wrong, where and why it matters, in plain language.
Fixes to your site
We correct the issues found, in the site's code.
A re-test
We check the fixes actually worked.
A written accessibility statement
A page that says where you stand, how to reach you about problems and when it was last reviewed.
A short guide for new content
So the next photo or page you add doesn't undo the work.
How it goes
We audit
Tools and human testing, page by page.
We fix and re-test
And we show you what changed.
We write your statement
And hand over the guide for keeping it that way.
Why it's worth it
What it does for you.
More people can use your site
Including customers you'd otherwise lose without ever knowing.
A record of good faith
A documented audit, fixes and statement show you took it seriously.
A better site for everyone
Clear labels, readable text and sensible structure help all visitors, especially on phones.
Less to worry about
You know where you stand.
- The cost of fixing barriers once is almost always lower than the cost of dealing with a complaint, though no one can promise you'll never get one.
- Good accessibility and good usability overlap heavily: fixing one tends to improve the other.
The practical bits
What it takes.
What we need from you
- Access to the site, or the pages you want audited.
- A list of anything you know is a problem.
- Anyone who should review the final statement.
How long it takes
Usually two to three weeks, depending on the size of the site and what the audit finds.
Timelines are typical. The dates for your project go in your proposal.
Afterwards
It's a one-time price. You own what we build, and if you ever want changes later, we quote them first.
Questions
Likely questions, answered.
Will this make me ADA compliant?
No audit can guarantee that or give you legal immunity, and we aren't lawyers. It finds and fixes barriers and documents the effort, which is what you can control.
Does my site need this?
Any public business site benefits. How much legal exposure you have depends on your business and your state, and an attorney is the right person to ask.
What is WCAG 2.2 AA?
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, version 2.2, at the AA level: the standard most commonly used to judge whether a website is accessible.
Can you fix a site you didn't build?
Often, yes, depending on how it was made. We'll tell you honestly what's possible before we quote.
Won't an accessibility widget do the same thing?
Overlay widgets don't fix the underlying code, and many people who rely on assistive technology find them obstructive. We fix the site itself.
How often should it be re-checked?
Whenever the site changes in a big way, and at least once a year. Our own accessibility statement works the same way.
What does WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility remediation cost?
$895 setup. The price is fixed and written into your proposal before any work starts, so there are no hourly surprises. If you ask for something that isn't in the proposal, we quote that change first and nothing changes until you agree.
Do I own it?
You own what we build for you: the code, the content, and the accounts it runs on (the domain, the hosting account and any service account, such as a payment account, are opened in your name). There is no proprietary platform to be locked into and no cancellation penalty.
Can you add it to the website I already have?
Add-ons are built into a ZONA site. If you already have a site, tell us what it's built with when you get in touch. We'll tell you honestly whether this can be added to it or would work better built into a new one. We'd rather say so than sell you something that doesn't fit.
How do I get started?
Use the button on this page to add it to your project, or send a message. A discovery call takes about fifteen minutes (no pitch deck), and then you get a fixed-price proposal. You'll hear back within one business day.
Is there a long-term contract?
No long-term contracts is our standing rule: care plans are month to month, and any monthly terms for an add-on go in writing in your proposal before you sign anything.
